Usually yea unless ive used all three starters too many times before, then I'll just box it right away. I'm not the kind of monster that would take it halfway across the region and make it think I love it then just box it then. Thats cruel.

Used to when I was a kid but I like boxing them now so I can plan out an entire team. I still love Typhlosion and Swampert though.

I didn't fight May for the first time in Emerald until I'd already got a Combusken. Power leveling starters so they oneshot everything is comfy.

Yeah, this. Although starters usually have really good movesets for in-game, and decent stats once fully evolved. Sometimes I drop them, sometimes I keep them, they're just another pokemon.
