Sword gets Fetch’d, which is right after Gym 1 and you can evolve really easily as soon as you get it considering you get a Leek and just start smacking Wobuffets. In comparison, Shield gets Corsola after Gym 3 (even if you can encounter it before, you’re too low level to catch it iirc) and it’s rare in a specific weather and in tall grass iirc
Galaritan is a bit later than Galardash true (5badges vs 3 badges), but Galaritan is a lot stronger and by the time you’re at that level you would probably be able to evolve Darumaka first
Then you’ve got Zacian vs Zamazenta, which is a massive fucking oof
