Galar is unironically a decent region and Swish is a decent game IF you start a new playthrough with the DLC downloaded. You have a lot more freedom of exploration, Pokémon variety and subplots.

Thank God I bought Sword + DLC used for 30 bucks

Fuck off the DLC is mediocre as shit, the Isle of Armor is absolute shit, just a bunch of fetch quests and a shitty shillmon, the crown tundra is kind of fun but it's a more hand-holdy and cutscene heavy legendary chase so it's worse than the Hoenn regis legendary hunt.

SS are awful games and not even the DLC saves them.

Start a new game. You will be severely overleveled if you do the DLC after beating the game since level scaling caps in the 60s in the DLC. If you play it in a new game you'll have more fun since everyone scales to your level and it's generally a good change of pace from the story and the main region or vice versa. How is it a negative against Galar? You're aware the base game was updated to be compatible with the returning Pokémon from the DLC? Swish has the largest regional dex so far.

I disagree. The DLC makes the main game significantly easier if you fuck around with it before you've beaten the champion.

The DLC is better enjoyed as post-game. "Oh but you'll be higher leveled than the Isle of Armor people" is the only hurdle to that, and it is a hurdle solved instantly by merely using a lvl 50 to 60 Pokemon and build a team there instead of using lvl 100 people there.

Unless you trade over from other games, your playthrough in previous games is always locked to the regional dex. Having 200 more options than the previous biggest game does make playthroughs significantly more interesting and repayable.

I'm almost certain that this is a complete lie even with the DLC. But even then, Alola has 809 pokémon, Kalos has 721 Pokémon and Unova has 649 pokémon. And in those you don't need to pay 30 USD+tip to get extra pokémon...

The story is nearly the same, down to a repeat of "flowery asshole Rival" and fighting a mentor figure, except worse because you only fight people in the Isle of Armor + Peony a VERY limited amount of times. The "superior exploration" is still inferior to routes because they're still mostly empty land masses.

The DLC can only be better than the main game if you're a fan of throwing Ultra Balls at a red-hp Legendary for 30 minutes, because that is the only thing it has that the base game doesn't have more of.

Thanks for showing you did not play the games. The DLCs have each a theme that builds up on them, the point of IoA is "Growing" and they make you train and make quests because of that. The second one is actually exploring and that's why most people like it the most (and I like it more), and it has the whole legendary lore because of it. This is what happens when you read shit online and don't actually play the stuff, you don't connect the dots Anon.

The DLC is complementary to the base game. The ideal experience is switching between the three areas every so often once you get bored of the quests you're doing at the moment. Leaving the DLC to postgame means you're forced to do everything in one go against severely underleveled trainers in a wild area you're going to be blitzing through with the bike filled with Pokémon you've already caught.

Doing the DLC at the same time as the main games gives you a break from the main story, more interesting wild areas than the one you have access to in mainland Galar, better Pokémon variety, interesting side quests to keep you busy and so on.

If you're doing the DLC all in one go at the beginning, mid or ending of the game then you're playing it wrong.

Calyrex is kinda like that I guess but the cutscenes are nowhere near intrusive. The other legendary hunts have literally no cutscenes outside of the introductory one for the Legendary Birds. There's also the numerous other things to do that don't have any handholding, like the footprints hunt+Keldeo capture and the other small secrets like Spiritomb or the Dyna Tree Greedent. Crown Tundra gives you plenty of freedom for exploration and rewards it accordingly, I don't know what the fuck you played

The rest of the game. As I've said multiple times before if CT was a standalone 15 USD experience I would wholeheartedly recommend it, but as a 90 USD experience with the main SS plot and IoT storylines it's just not worth it.
