The way Game Freak operate is one main team of senior staff banging away at new Gens constantly, prepping for the next before launching the latest worked on with newer/less senior staff working on rehashes and remakes and the like (USM/LGPE made while the main team worked on Sword and Shield for instance). They skipped the remake after the rehash (DLC) this year anon, passed it off to another team, leaving Legends to be the staff who were free from LGPE/USM duties who weren't required for either the DLC or SS, who were then joined by more as the DLC launched and scaled down from what it was at the start.
Pattern hasn't been broken, they're just unironically giving the game a little more time this time out. You're loopy if you think they're not launching another game aimed at kids next christmas, they've been releasing ones targeting them at that period of time for the last years, for fuck's sake.
