I have been out of the pokemon loop since 2016. not long after Sun and Moon came out. I just picked up a copy of sword and im not really impressed. Just seems more of the same old GF pokemon game.
But Pokemon Home?
This shit is like my childhood dream.
Ive spent the last few days organizing and transferring pokemon all the way back from Platinum, Black 2, Y, and AS just to try and get a full pokedex.
Thats always been my favorite part about pokemon games and I can't believe i hadn't heard about this before. It's like having a full pokedex on your phone. Its insane.
What was /vp/s reaction when it came out?

It already existed in the form of Pokémon Bank. On the 3DS.
Basically Home came about and replaced it which meant you have another service to subscribe too and the main game itself (SwSh) had global trading removed and placed in a phone app.
Home is genuinely a scummy move.

Most of the tranafers are 1 way. And there's no garuntee what future game will let you transfer out a particular mon. Also it cost money when no other pokemon game charges money for storage

Bank has almost none of the features Home has though. Its basically just a transfer app.
The multiple subscriptions aspect is retarded, but i was more talking about its functionality.

GTS being taken from the main game and placed in a mobile app is inexcusable. IT doesn't even work on the switch app.
Bank was meant to be used for a while, but GFs Go pandering meant they had to make something with smartphone connectivity even though Go connected with Let's Go just fine.

Home as a concept is fine, but it really needs UI improvements and better sorting.

But I had a full Pokédex already in Bank. The only difference is that you can see your dex on a phone. With Bank I could put Pokémon into several games and use it as a trade function. With Home I can take Pokémon from Let's Go and never out them back there...it has less function than what came before it

With Bank you were able to trade from all of the 3DS games as long as the Pokemon was available in the game you were transferring to

Home hard locks you out of transferring back and only allows compatibility with Sword and Shield, which will no doubt be thrown out of the window once either BDSP, Legends or gen 9 comes out.

That’s what people say, but I’m sure it just downgrades to a lite version were you can still access it and take stuff out but you can’t deposit anything into it anymore.

But yeah, the biggest flaw is that it’s one way from any game other than sword which is a game that can’t even have all the pokemon in it so you hve stuff like your HGSS fetaligatr/typhlosion stuck in limbo

That's why I keep my Pokémon in USUM. I've just bought Sword but I'm not sure I'm gonna use Home for anything other than maybe using the GTS and completing the dex

Incidentally, not Home related, but does LGPE have a GTS?

Same, used my hacked 2ds to copy over my saves and back up all my pokemon with pkhex and decided to play on emulators or just play better games until pokemon gets a worthwhile game again. And as soon as people figure out how to inject in that hypothetical good game I can copy over my collection and carry on no issue.
