It's objectively true that battles are a part of the games, and Dewgong isn't any good in them, but so what? You CHOOSE to deem that fact important or not. It's not inherently significant, and I personally do not see why anyone would ever call something a bad monster or a good monster because of how bad or good it is in battle. How trivial, and shallow.
What if Dewgong has some sort of merit outside of battle? What if it has an extremely creative design? (I'm being hypothetical.) What if it makes people laugh? What if people find it endearing? What if it has a unique concept? What if it's satisfying to watch in motion? What if it is a loveable monster design in OTHER ways? We're just supposed to forget all that on the arbitrary fact it can't defeat a Ferrothorn? Neither could my cat, and I still love her.
Winning battles in of undeniable importance to the games, but why in the world would you choose to lessen your estimation of the value of a monster design based on something as short-sighted as that?
