The only thing stopping me from buying a New 2DS XL to emulate shit is having to open the SD card slot every time I want to sync save files from from/to my PC.

For the authentic feel, and it might look a bit better. I've seen people say they can't do windowed on pc and I can't imagine it looking too great full screen. Some of those emulation devices are only like a $100 so it's not too bad if you don't want to risk hacking a handheld you have.

2ds xl is worth imo even with it being tn screens. Also 2ds xl means you can use retroarch with gpsp and use 2x speed which is a godsend for some gba roms. I like to play nuzlocke and og runs on standard ds speed but for rom hacks i like the extra features. With sonos filter patch for twilightmenu it makes it so you can actually edit RGB gamma and color temp to make ds roms look more like dsi and dslite quality. About to start a hg randomizer and renegade platinum run with 60 on each too which is nice

The cool thing about GBA on the 3DS is that it's played natively, not emulated.

Also pretty sure it has a wireless way of transfer files to and from a PC, but some Windows 10 update broke it and you need to to turn off some security setting.

I ordered a save dumper after meaning to for a few months. Checked my Crystal after I got the order confirmation and the save is gone now. :(

I put mine on an everdrive GBA x7 and play it on a GBA SP, but I gotta admit I don't like how small it is, the main draw for me was the charger and the backlight but now I think I might just look into seeing if I can buy a modded base GBA with IPS screen and a usb charger mod.

If you go from a bigger screen to a smaller screen it's going to look terrible at first, of course. You get used to it and once you do you realize the micro screen is 1:1 pixel perfect so the games look flawless. Unless you are blind in which case you are fucked. The button placement is really good but the LR buttons are useless. The main problem with the micro is that they have replacement faceplates but they scratch and it's impossible to find original or quality replacements. All the aftermarket replacements suck. There is nothing more comfy than whipping a micro out of your pocket to play. I mainly use the SP now because the shell protects the screen. The micro button placement is the best for soft resetting. The SP is functionally fantastic but ergonomically it's a nightmare. They are all compromises.
