Shit idea. Two regions only worked because it was West Kanto and Kanto, Johto on its own would have been terrible and an end to the franchise. Give me a game with a huge region like Sinnog or Hoenn with more towns and areas to explore with good lore, not this garbage

Are there any other 2 regions who's real life references are geographically close to each other to justify it?

Alternatively, a portal-making legendary could be introduced to link two regions together as story development.

Johto on it's own was only terrible because it had to cut corners to have Kanto on the same cart
Gamefreak literally picked between making an good region or a mediocre region with a half-baked Kanto glued to it

This is why I liked HGSS more, they gave Johto more identity. A game like Legends Arceus but set in Johto would be pretty cool (Legends Celebi when)
