Okay, I want to know if this board actually cares about pokemon or just cares about hating it. If you dislike the style of BDSP, do you like the style of Legends, and vice versa? It seems to me that there are a lot of people in general who complained about SwSh's graphics and then shat on BDSP's graphics anyway, so I want to know what people think.

Legends has and always will be a conceptual impossibility. The amount of animations you need to make a modern open world game that doesn't feel like you throwing balls at static 3DS models is directly at odds with Pokemon's roster. Try literally any open world game even rudimentary old shit like WoW doesn't have nearly as many creature skeletons as even fucking Pokemon stadium 1. Neither do modern examples like BOTW, Horizon Zero Dawn, Red Dead, Skyrim, etc.
You thought it was small before? Try like 80 available in the whole game.
Legends is fucked. Either it'll have lots of Pokemon and be a barren static catch simulator or have 80 Pokemon and still not be that nice because Gamefreak is the developer and not some fancy high-end studio. Sprites were the only reason the series was able to do what it did so well. The farther away from that you move the worse the games will be.

Whoa it's almost like both have shit graphics or something. Nobody ever said 3D was bad retard. The problem was SWSH looked like shit. It had fucking N64 grade textures and the animations were absolute trash. BDSP look like shit because the chibi design is fucking horrid and doesn't work when it isn't sprites.

I'm more than happy that not only do we have a traditional top-down, grid-style pokemon game for a change but that also we're finally getting a game that breaks the formula and is completely open world.
I have my critiques on certain things present in each trailer like the chingling low fps animation in legends and the jagged-looking cliffs in BDSP but i've never expected the pokemon company to produce anything of quality in the first place.
I'm so desensitized that i've taken the red pill and am just happy we got two pokemon games with each in a single, focused direction for a change rather than jeopardizing both by mixing each concept into one abomination of a game (see: SwSh).

I never had an interest in DP remakes, since I still like to revisit Platinum occasionally. Also, Pokemon as a game hasn't seen much innovation or meaningful improvements since the Physical/Special Split, so I never thought it would be that valuable. It isn't like HGSS, where many things were overhauled between GSC and Advanced. I might've been interested in seeing a modernized Sinnoh, similar to the changes made in ORAS Hoenn but on a larger scale. But that isn't happening either since the game is a 1:1 remaster, so...w/e.

Legends is the most excited I've been for Pokemon since the big move to 3D and live multiplayer in XY. Cautiously optimistic, but I've wanted something like this for a while.

I like to hate it because it has and always will be shit. That said, I would be lying if I didn't want it to be good. I actually really want it to be good because I crave and adore creativity in anything.

I hate it. I really hate it. It's uncreative, it's boring looking, the chibis, while cute, have a whole wrench thrown into them with their gross hands. The graphics look like shit, the move animations and particle effects are reused, they hired a fucking mobile game company, and it's pokemon. Low effort is to be expected but I'm never going to be happy about it so I can vent by shittalking them.

Honestly, I do. I really do. I've been wanting an open world pokemon since forever. Well before the open-world meme infested all of gaming to be come the new call of duty. But since it's Pokemon I have little faith in it. If it disappoints it wouldn't be anything new and it's the past bad track record in mind that makes me as bitter about it as I am. Plus what they showed us, while cool looking, looks shitty with it's awful frame rate dips and minimal animations that just takes me out of the entire thing. While a lot of people like to post about changes that were made to a game before release, those were near minimal. Not to mention we already learned that pokemon will put in as little effort as possible even when "technical limitations" aren't an excuse.

Possibly just a lot of passengers on the hate bandwagon but you probably know by now that those actually were shit. See the Ocarina of Time trees in the wild area.

The most fun I get out of this board is waifuposting. There is little to no quality in the games but good character designs aplenty.

It looks like a fan game, demo, or concept not a real game. And no it won't look any different on release. SWSH graphics are bad. Just today I was looking at someone playing a couple of minutes of the expansion pass and it looked terrible. I had forgotten how ugly the overworld is.

I know the bar is set really low for pokemon but lets stop pretending ugly games are acceptable. Everyone else seems to manage to make good looking games, there is no reason why gf shouldn't. The formula has been the same for 25 years just put it on a good engine with skilled staff.

Personally, I liked SwSh's graphic style but disliked how little effort went into animation.
Still thought they could've done more in terms of having a unique yet pleasing art direction, but on a purely visual basis I thought they were fine.

I don’t see anything wrong with how the remakes look, my biggest complaint is a lack of line work on models, Barry looks kinda bad in the trailer, but even then that’s not an issue with the chibi style since that’s an in-battle model. I also don’t hate Legends, I think both work for the type of game they want to be, similar to link’s awakening remake compared to BOTW, as dry a comparison it may be.

Even gen 8 will be regarded as one of the best pokemon games in the series due to nostalgia

I like how Legends looks and hate BDSP's look. There are some shots that look nice in Legends and I like the colors they used. For some reason, I really like the shade of blue used for the sky. I didn't mind SWSH's look but it needed a lot more polish and detail. I loved how Let's Go looked.

The plastic toy style of NPCs is really ugly, but that isn't the main issue, the colors and backgrounds in battle are vomit-inducing and their treatment of the game would imply they aren't going to be adding modern features like fashion and I can't see BDSP being worth the cost of a switch game. I'd buy it at $40 no questioned asked, or in a bundle with Legends
Legends is exactly the kind of game I've always wanted, graphics doesn't matter to me as much as lore, storytelling, and roleplaying aspects. Even if gen 8 was terrible and I thought wild area and raids were the worst, I look forward to being able to explore Sinnoh's rich lore and setting. Also the combat looks cool.
