My favorite of the existing main series is usum's, very readable and unobtrusive. It's got high contrast unlike lgpe, elements are contained instead of just floating around untethered like gen 1+2 yet not squashed too tight together like gen 5 or looking crowded like gen 6, it's still got some shape so it's not just a box like gen 3+4+lgpe+swsh without taking up too much space on an already small screen that could be using that space to show more of the battle like sm and hgss but those two are a close 2nd and 3rd. My ideal hud would be usum's with sm's health bar - the slight slope to give the impression that full health is really full and low health is really empty is great, and remove the lv lable to clean it up a bit because at this point we all know the green/yellow/red bar with #/# is hp and the blue bar is exp without the labels and level is the only other thing that number could possibly represent. Maybe make the purple change to a lavender depending on lighting so if it's night time or otherwise a dark scene it doesn't get lost yet still keeps some color but that might be too much.
>>46532770It really does look like programmer art, all the ui elements do in swsh. Even just a touch of shading like a faint drop shadow or that ~5% opacity white layer over the top half to make a pseudo 3d button thing Apple used to do, would help a lot by giving it a tiny bit of depth while still being clean and minimalist.
