What is the in universe explanation on why some moves (super effective ones) hurt certain types more?
Especially the non obvious ones, so no water on fire but the ones such as why dark hurts ghosts more or why steel hurts ice more or why fighting hurts normal more?

I always hated the logic they used for bug. Steel resist bugs because bugs cant hurt metal (normal sized ones) but that logic would apply to almost any type

>bugs are weak to fire
>bugs are weak to water
>bugs are weak to ice

All of those statements would also apply

Some of the type matchups simply don't make any sense logically, but are there for gameplay purposes.

For instance, the reason why dragon resists fire/water/grass is so Lance's Dragonites would serve as an end-game boss and make it so you can't just faceroll them with your starter. People will come up with bullshit justifications for these resistances, but that's the actual reason.

Yeah, that's another good point. Just because certain matchups are done for gameplay purposes does not mean that gamefreak actually does a competent job balancing them.

Also hate how changes like that indirectly nerfed other types as a result. For instance, grass has always been unfairly shafted, having the most weaknesses and being resisted by the most types too. And while it's good that poison got a buff by being strong against fairies, making poison attacks actually used means that grassers now have yet another type of attack to worry about.

Fucking sucks. Starter types are supposed to be balanced by grass constantly gets shat on. At least back in the day the argument could be made that grass's shitty type matchups were balanced by its access to support moves like the powders. But even that goes out the window with how later gens nerfed sleep and paralysis

Weaknesses are not physical, they're elemental. Fire Pokemon are weak against Water attacks because Fire as an element is weak against Water. But regular water does not harm them, since they have to drink it to live and bathe.

It's true. The Fire is the flames spreading from the initial blast and the Psychic refers to the invisible "rays" that give radiation. The thing is literally a microwaving creature. Plus, V-strike as in, nuclear strike? Gimme a break. Its so blatantly obvious, and this is just of many redpills from Unova that GF made, theres other shit too like Whimsicott/Lilligant = cotton nigger slaves/white southern belle farmer daughter. Grass is still one of the top types in both VGC and Smogon

Resisting Water, Electric, and Ground outweighs the weaknesses to Ice, Fire, and Flying. Bug and Poison are still shit, so they don't even matter
