Sugimori is not a good illustrator. Turn off the nostalgia filter and you realize how lazy his card illustrations are. I feel like I can count the ones by hand where he actually drew a pokemon that's interacting with the scenery and not just in front of a stock background.

Sadly, this is common practice in many Japanese TCGs. At least it's not as bad as Weiss Schwarz or Rebirth for you, where they mostly use stock art and screenshots.

Yeah because they're all somebody else manipulating the stock art. Sugimori only draws Trainers for the cards, and even that's super rare.

Clearly they knew about that, same with that new Galarian Zapdos, but Eternatus is also clearly the best deck in Standard right now. Until Battle Style comes out next week at least.
