got my larvitar earlier this week after 53 eggs. i was expecting this to be much more punishing given larv's egg hatch time and gen 2 not having flame body/magma armor and i'm kind of disappointed. i hunt to kill time and relax

Still hatching eevees in oras with charm/masuda. Got kind of burned out so now I'm trying my luck dex nav chaining for it as well and alternating between the two. So far ive hatched over 8 boxes and havent yet been able to get a nav chain of 50 yet. Anyone have experience with both methods and know which is more efficient or easier/better? I just want to finish this hunt and I'm past the point of no return. I just want that little white fucker to appear so I can start my copy of ultra moon. Its still sealed. I want to have a shiny in brain as my starter in that game so bad. Man this sucks I dont think I'll ever shiny hunt again after this.

I've had good luck with masuda method in gen 6. I hatched a shiny treecko in 40 or so eggs and that was without a shiny charm. Chain hunting might have some benefits I'm unaware of but you also might not get the capture when you do encounter. Either way I hope you do find it

It's objectively the best way to do it but requires a shit ton of work beforehand to make it worth it so I don't bother

Well thats ten boxes. God damn. Getting really burnt out bros. Tried dexnaving again but fuck that shit. Apparently on a chain of 50 or 100 it forces more checks for it being shiny or whatever but I just got to like a 30+ chain and accidentally hit the joy stick to hard and made it run. Was probably shiny too lol. Then tried again and on a 20 chain accidentally hit run instwad of capturing or defeating. So back to masudas wild ride at least its consistent and doesnt require any finesse. How do you anons cope with frutrating/long hunts? Ive got 14 empty boxes in the PC if I fill those and dont get it im fucking done and will never shiny hunt again. Ive only ever had one successful masuda hunt and it was a froakie without protean at about 180 eggs a few years back. For some reason here i am trying again. Whats painful is that while completing the dex I hatched one cleffa egg (1) and it was shiny. It had shit ivs and cute charm. Then while hatching prevos for my living dex I hatched about 50 that I needed with a foreign ditto. One was shiny luckily, but it was a fucking panpour. With an impish nature. And shit Ivs. Is my luck just fucked? Should I bother going on with this. If so how?

i did it one time but i remember it being less convenient than just uploading to a private/burner tw*tter. from what i recall it's like an ftp. you have to connect your phone to the hotspot the switch generates so they can communicate

I just got this shiny clefairy from the game corner in leafgreen. Only took a few hundred soft resets but that's only after switching off of hunting my shiny Clamperl in ruby (currently 20,000 encounters...)

Well fuck the universe just doesnt want me to have a shiny eevee apparently. Fuck. I hatched over 12 boxes. I even went back and ground out a 100 dex nav chain which took a couple hours. Thats over 350 eggs hatched and ar least 250 dex nav encounters including max chaining. Fuck a 100 chain with shiny charm is like a 1.4% chance to get a shiny thats less than 1/100. I'm starting to not even want the god damn thing. Fuck.

Do what I do when I get frustrated with a long hunt, do it over small bursts, put it down and only do a hour or two at a time and do other things between it.

Watching something like anime or tv while doing it helps.

i've developed a more fun real life version of shiny hunting. i go to local game stores and buy used copies of pokémon games i don't have. they usually have a box of shinies on the old save files. i only hunted for 4 of these in-game and there's more that i transferred to shield

I get going for shinies. Theyre really cool. I just had this false hope that it would be relatively easy to get. I was a fool... I went through all that time completing the national dex to get the shiny charm. I was so excited when I started breeding. Now I question it all. The countless hours I spent completing the dex, the 12 or so hours ive spent hatching and dexnaving so far. I definitely need to take a break at least for one day and reevaluate how bad I really want it.

But yea, you don't have to do it all at once! My shiny morelull I spent a few months doing it off and on (sometimes weeks between sessions though), and it really took off a lot of stress.

I do feel you on the long hunts though. Just hang in there, friend! I believe in you.

Heh yea pretty much. Was so excited when it came out shiny too. Just to check the status and be crushed. Maybe it wasnt the best choice. I suppose I should have picked a mon with a shorter egg cycle than eevee for this hunt. Might switch to a vulpix hunt for a while (hidden ability would be nice but not 100% necessary) since the eggs hatch faster.

I caught a full odds shiny joltik while playing black the other day. I just put my ds down after an encounter to look at my monitor and wondered why the potion sound played, then saw that it was a different colour yellow and purple.
