The new Pokemon season is legitimately entertaining because it breaks the mold. Most of the episodes are just Ash and Goh having miscellaneous adventures throughout the entire Pokemon world. It unironically captures the magic of the Pokemon world.

Contests aren’t idolshit, there’s actually a battle portion. Only Kalos reduced the girl companion to “stand there and look pretty” quality. Contests were a fresh and interesting way to flesh out the pokemon world by showing off pokemon’s abilities in unique ways. Sure they relied a bit too much on moves becoming glitter but it was much more welcoming than putting literal clothes on your pokemon and dancing like a retard with them

This, I don't watch the anime beyond the OS and some of the movies, but I've seen a bit of this new series and it's actually fucking good. It takes a page out of Pokespe's book and doesn't waste time with boring uneventful shit, every episode is entertaining in it's own way, or at least that's the impression I've been getting

on the one hand, you're right. it's a breath of fresh air to see them really embrace the pokemon world from a holistic worldbuilding standpoint.

on the other, it's also clear the target audience is even lower in age than season 1.

I'm glad it's there and good quality for the younguns of this generation. But I think i've aged out of it.

Because they are waifufags. The irony is that the lead girl protagonist has always been dead weight. Young boys do not care them and young girls aren’t drawn into Pokémon because of characters like May, Dawn etc. So I am surprised the template lasted as long as it did given another male lead is more profitable when it comes to merch sales then having a female lead.
