Sorry bro but I have years of experience with antique auctions and I know what I'm talking about, you LOWBALL the estimate/starting bid on purpose to get HIGHER BIDS from people who are trying to get a good deal but end up getting caught in a bidding war. It's a common technique by auctioneers.
