This would be better if they just used Card Flip from the original games.

But they removed it even from Japanese version, which had only slots in both Game Corners (even though the slots in Japanese HGSS were pretty soulful, there was absolutely no reason to get rid of Card Flip).

It would, but compared to slots is a million times better, as it makes it way more likely for you to win if you know how to play. It's still luck based in the end, but much better chances. Which translates to faster coins farming.
