>>465531653 months after release, and I was looking for new moves to teach my Hariyama and Ferrothorn. Then I realized they were holding back move tutors for a different game and I got mad. These games came out in November 2013 so... Only 2 months spent enjoying it, then the new year rang into 2014 in January.
So by like late January is when I realized the games were shit. Although the first 3 weeks of X and Y were magical. I remember the first few days everyone playing together and using PSS and finding tons of mons, it was like a mini pseudo MMO. I even played alongside a friend and we fought each other online before Victory Road to larp as a rival encounter. And the meta was still being figured out and learning how to EV train, the shinies, the Friend Safari, the battling... I guess even if the story and difficulty was so bad we just glossed it over for the other stuff. Fairies was an interesting diversion before it became apparent how utterly laughable the balancing was, it was funny trying to figure out who got what (Remember anons lying about Mismagius being Ghost/Fairy). And the Megas while at times ridiculous was still nice to see especially some forgotten ones and shitmons, inspecting their 3D models.
But its like after those few months the honeymoon period wore off and it became apparent how bad that gen was. It was basically rehashing 5 gens worth of extraneous content to cover up for its own lack of content. Barely 80 new Pokemon is a huge downgrade from the 100s and there is so much blatant cut content. When they hacked and found the 3 legendaries of Hoopa/Diancie/Volcanion GF got mad and punished everyone by canceling the planned events and made them random ticket crap years later, fuck Volcanion wasnt even in the game until yeeeears later.
Overall its a mixed bittersweet bag, but I hate it all the more for it. I unironically would not want to experience it again. I would want to just stop at BW2 and pretend I quit Pokemon then and there.
