>>46559541It’s weird. On one hand it has some really good episodes, both filler and plot, and even does these mini two parters that are fun in there own right. However a lot of the focus is steered towards the new character Goh and his goal of catching every Pokémon. There’s a plot about Ash competing in a World Tournament and when those come around they are some of the best episodes to offer, but it’s more of a side plot to Goh’s catching shenanigans and Ash being a side character in the background. Lots of time is spent on Goh, and if you like Ash’s Pokémon, chances are you aren’t going to see much of them, especially if you watch weekly instead of binge, since they don’t get much screen time or interact with each other at the bare minimum. There’s also the main girl who starts off being real pessimistic towards anything Pokémon and gradually grows an affinity for it over time, but she doesn’t appear often either and when she does it’s usually just for a couple lines and then she’s gone.
So yeah, if you just want a comfy Pokémon anime, go ahead and watch it. If you don’t mind seeing Ash play in the background and more focus on his new friend, then watch it. However if you are coming in expecting Ash to be actively playing a role in each episode, then this one isn’t for you.
