He said that its based on Chitons. Chitons have inorganic eyes made of minerals that run along it's body. Instead of just randomly placing gems everywhere there should be a pettern of gems that run along the rock-like shell. It would make for a far more interesting pattern and doesn't clutter the design. Oh, and actually make them look like eyes. Because right now it just looks like someome glued random gems on a rock.
