Mystery Dungeon (at least in DX) makes evolutions pretty puch pointless because you can just give your team members stat boosts.

Even then the stat boosts are mostly minor factor since in the grand scheme they are pretty minor and the fact you can actually get max stats with enough grinding anyway. The only real reason to evolve is for a bigger moveset or a different ability.
