It’s a house about 30 minutes away from my school. The owners are getting divorced and splitting/liquidating their properties. Of all the times to pull that shit, it had to be now. No one wants to rent rn because it’s a buyers market because of covid. Luckily no one has put an offer yet, and even when It’s finalized I get 60 days so I have time but still, I don’t want to have to part with my pets especially. I’ve had my cat since platinum came out, I can’t imagine having to give him away to some stranger or worse, a shelter. Like I said, not much to be happy for right now.

I see you're point but it's still not as accessible as 24/7. You also had slower internet, and no constant instant notifications. Yeah there was RSS feed, but you'd still have to be at your computer. Wifi/mobile data wasn't everywhere either. If you had a laptop it was more of the convenience to take your work with you. Even if you had the money for a smartphone back then the data was more costly, mobile websites were new and janky, and it was really more of a business man's tool. You still have a point it didn't just suddenly start then, but it did explode with the rise of smartphones and the idea of always having internet access. Back then "just get offline" was a lot easier to accomplish.

Read what they said, it's not an apartment it's an actual house. The current property owner has to sell it. Unless the next property owners want to also be landlords/rent out the property, then they're basically shit out of luck.

Same thing any renting space applies, and I think unless the owner is on crippling go to jail if you dont pay debt he would be forced to let the renters stay until their contract spires (which are always minimum of 2 years to begin with)

Well there are sides to everything, I am actually a landlord and you gotta be very careful because bad renters that dont want to leave or decide to trash your place can completely fuck you up since they always have the upper hand.
