It just means they don't understand shit and make mistakes that would be hilariously obvious to anyone that would actually play, like thinking people wouldn't run special attacks on Aegislash.

This. It was good for gens 4-5, but was best in 6. Contrary to what pretty much everyone was expecting, megas actually made the meta better.

The gen 6 games were total shit, but the meta was oozing with soul.

VGC will drop in popularity once GF starts using blockchain to verify the integrity and history of all cloud hosted mons. The only thing keeping the VGC scene afloat is injecting, given how retarded and medieval breeding and catching perfects or IM(perfects) are like with the UBs Stakataka, Naganadel and Kartana.
Without injecting, VGC ceases to be competitive as it's at the mercy of RNG. Nobody will invest thousands of hours just to get their Switch banned by Nintendo.

VGC was pretty big in gens 5 and 6. Once ORAS used GS Cup rules many people shifted to TCG and the TCG scene boomed. With remote I have no idea, I stopped caring without live events and I think the combination of no live events and stale VGC/TCG formats really dented interest.

There was no reason to use any of them other than Gyarados, Charizard, Venusaur, Mawile, Salamence, Lucario, Kangaskhan, Gardevoir, Gengar, Metagross, and Rayquaza whenever it was legal.

Early gen 6 was good because it was the first gen with new types since Johto and megas were something totally new. It quickly devolved into cancer. Gen 4 was the only time the meta was stable and fun.

We hated them on release because its the kind of thing that there were a thousand ways for it to go wrong. In the end, all it did was end up making some shitmons not only viable, but good. I remember how excited I was to have a reason to use Beedril competitively for the first time ever.

Man, early SwoShi VGC was amazing. The most fun I'd had in a format since 2013. Sadly, the virus had to ruin everything, and while playing online is OK it's not the same as going to in person tournaments.
