Now Gens 3 to about 6 were fine, even the golden years if you ignore nostalgia and diamond/pearl. And design dilution was a good thing, the first two gens needed more of it.
But all of the problems kept mounting and stagnating. The newest games aren't even that shit, but compared to the heights the series should have reached it is like watching the family dog become more cancerous tumor than animal.
