Man I am a Pikachu fan but I can't help but wonder how Raichu would actually feel where Pikachu got memed into popularity through the marketing of a shitty anime to the point where they're considered the inferior choice. Not to mention by the time someone finally decides to shill Raichu, it's a shitty regional variant who's reduced to pancake memes.

I'm curious how much this actually holds up among players. I'm sure there are some that do it for challenge runs but how many actual players don't fully evolve their mons, outside the forced non evolving ones like the cosplaychu

Except Raichu is a stone evolution so any trainer that didn’t want one could just not give their Pikachu a thunderstone. Which make me wonder, how the hell do ANY Raichu exist if everyone perfects Pikachu?

I unironically do have a hard time using Raichu in Kanto playthroughs. It just feels wrong. Unless I play as the girl in FRLG, then she can use Raichu. Red always gets Pikachu for me.

I imagine certain Pokemon just don't want to evolve and some do, so there might be Pikachu who are adamant about getting a Thunder Stone for more power. Likewise, there might be Pikachu that just don't want to use a Thunder Stone and so their Trainers are like whatever.

It just says "so many" not literally everyone. There might be trainers who prefer Raichu just because its less popular.

Stones occur naturally commonly enough that shopping centers sell them.
There's also the likely possibility that stones and other item evolutions are actually just shortcuts for evolution that would otherwise take very long or be extremely uncommon (Steelix is a great example).

I onpy NFE trademons or Pokes that only have postgame evolutions. It works well enough in the games that have real post-E4 content. 2nd stage trade evos especially are usually solid.

I think they fixed this in SwSh so that stone evolutions "learn" the moves a level 1 so that they can be re learned at the Pokemon Center.
