He wanted a world without soul, without emotions, because he himself didn't like them, he also wanted this world only for himself, he was going to sacrifice his own team galatic and all people/pokemon to make it. It wasn't about creating a better world, that was just a lie to get people to follow him, the intent was in actuality quite selfish.

Colress, because he just does whatever he can to achieve his research. He clearly does bad things and is often portrayed as a villain in most pokemon medias, but he isn't malicious and does have some morality to him, since he finds Ghetsis to be repulsive and rejects Team Plasma's ideologies. When you beat him by proving to him that your method of bringing out a pokemon's true potential is better than Ghetsis', he then ultimately changes for the better. And he does all of this without being a stereotypical eccentric mad scientist(discounting the anime, of course).
