>>46595871>Infinite TMSArguably a good thing, but the main problem with TMs before was the limited amount of some of them. TRs in Gen 8 are a decent compromise.
>exp shareThese days I'm really into EXP options. Bravely Default lets you turn EXP gain off, Xenoblade 2 lets you not only keep reserve EXP in case you need it, but lets you level down in NG+ (this is actually a standard feature in Xenoblade Definitive Edition, which could mean it's going to be standard). I also like the EXP candies in Gen 8. The problem is that you only have gaining EXP in Gen 8. It also is a pain because EXP share distributes EVs, so if you want to use any Pokemon you ever had in your party during the story story in competitive that's an extra step. I also like EXP scaling for the story, but now that level 100 is required to unfuck your IVs, I'd love to turn it off too. I'd settle for postgame at least, that's where these problems crop up.
>HMs removedI almost wouldn't mind if it didn't take up a move slot. They should have added "can do X action" to the Pokemon data structure back in fucking Gen 3, but here we are.
>Overworld encountersAgain, I've never been completely convinced this is a good thing, but I will admit if you build a system around it in such a way that you can ensure the player gets the Pokemon they want, that's a benefit. It's why people love Dex Nav.
>larger dexesWe talking overall or regional? XY's was way too fucking big for it's own good, there were like 100 of the fuckers before the second gym, that's fucking absurd. Now, there's been some pretty sparse options as well, like the nothing but garbage before the first gym in BW, but I guess it comes down to if you like building a team and sticking to it or progressively adding more members. I tend towards the latter, but that's usually due to Pokemon distribution being fairly even over the course of the game. if you're talking overall number, Gen 8 drops the ball there, but you already know that.
