I hated Leon more. Every time he showed up, I braced myself for like 10 mentions of 'unbeatable' and 'Charizard'.

Was he ultra offensive in the anime or something?
I don't get the hate in the games he just seems like every other character in the 3D pokemon games. He had one not very noteworthy character trait that you mostly just button mash through the dialogue for anyway because the game does a poor job of making their personality actually matter outside of text.

I'd find him cute if he didn't have such dumb looking hair, but that's just the modern art direction I guess.

I don't hate tierno nor do I think he's done anything particularly bad, but he's definitely a little annoying in the anime. His whole dance thing became stale really quickly.

Just imagine him running around Alola, learning how to use power of Z-Moves because cool moves and dancing and just going full fanboy mode every time he meets professor.

Yeah, he would be more of a comedic character but desu it's fine, SM already has a lot of heavy subthemes so adding one clown would be good.

Are you sure you're not confusing the two? Trevor has the better gimmick. It's badly implemented but he's your dex rival and he rewards you for catching more Pokemon than him. They just don't give you enough chances to rival him.

Tierno is just into dancing and all his Pokemon use dance moves but they're still very weak. I liked his TM quiz side-quest though so he's not all bad. I really don't hate any of the XY rivals they just make me feel nothing.

Also i liked the tidbit with Trevor's parents leaving him alone because they were Pokemon trainers so he wanted to travel simply because he felt lonely and abandoned. It's a nice piece of character story, albeit very poorly shown because lets be honest - 95% of players don't even know where he's living, lol.

And i think that's biggest problems of XY - it has a lot of cool on paper ideas and characters, but implementation of them is messy and chaotic.
