Kanto is a joke. If you use a Psychic type you basically steamroll 95% of the game. If you don't, literally anything can and will poison you (Poison Sting, contact from Poison Point in Gen III, PoisonPowder, Toxic). Nearly the entire dex has Poison or a part type Poison stapled to it. It's fucking retarded. Was Kanto the sight of a nuclear strike or something? Almost all their local fauna is considered toxic or venomous. The water probably isn't even safe to drink. Is the Psychic - Poison dichotomy supposed to be some shitty allusion to Akira or something by Game Freak? It's all so terribly designed and decided upon.

I'm complaining about GF being creatively bankrupt. They found one gimmicky type that made sense lorewise and slapped it on almost every plant. It's simply stupid: they have a fantasy world to be aa creative as they want but instead they reuse the same crap over and over. They've been like this since the very beggining.

Why keep something around whose ONLY function is to cause harm. And don't give me that bullshit about medicine. Poisons are only useful to produce antivenom from the venoms they themselves inject in the first place.

The Poison typing is literally a bomb waiting to go off once GF designs better pokemon for it.

It's pretty clear that Kanto is, whether if they intended it at first or not, a shithole region.
The only good cities are Celadon, pretty common for third world countries to have a nice and clean commercial city, and Pewter which is in the boonies.

This is mostly a moot point though, since essentially every single pokemon in the game has access to toxic, and plenty of non-poison mons can use poison attacks with chance to poison.

sleep is trash after it got nerfed. burn/poison/paralysis is a tossup depending on the target. For example, physical attackers being cucked by burn, fast sweepers being cucked by paralysis, and walls being cucked by toxic

Kanto has so many poison types because Kanto is based of the real life Kanto region, which has Tokyo. So Kanto is essentially the Japanese version of New York or California, and of course, those places are extremely toxic and filled with trash.
