Doesn't have the same freedom to go wherever you want after getting Cut like the original game because of the railroady nature of the challenge.

Some items/pokemon/strategies open up way too late to do anything with them until post game is completed i guess

Tries too hard to be a bland Smogon simulator when people could just go to Showdown or whatever. It tries to be an a difficulty romhack without overleveled, aka the opposite of Kaizo but it's just as tedious because of the perfect IV/EV gym battles and you have to grind your own EVs and possibly forced to breed. Also the trainer sets make no sense. Why the fuck does Sabrina have Conkeldurr? Also it somehow manages to be more linear than vanilla Kanto.

This. While I understand the fact that it's meant to be a difficulty boost hack, the immersion is completely ruined when I can't carry a team of my bros because A. your team is fully evolved by erika or B. you have to use temporary shitters to clear whichever gym you're on.

New update made it way less frustrating imo.
You can now pay 70k for a stat, that's like 14 nuggets and later on 7 damp rocks.
Use the Dexnav until a 3 star pokemon comes along and perfect the rest 3 imperfect stats.
