Maybe it's the sentiment talking, but I remember having a profound pleasure from grinding through Gen I and Gen II GB games since as far as 1999.
And primitive as they were, for the times they had enough diversity to shock a teenager with overabundance of options. Plus, I did stick to one starter in Gen I, being a huge Blastoise simp, but I also did switch my teams each time.
