I would go to local TCG stores and they were fucking filled with shit, piles of holos just loose in open boxes at 20yen each or whatever. I still have loads of them, I used to just grab a random handful and buy them all for a while. It just lost its appeal, they started to seem worthless.
Probably the weird JP only promos were the best part, like the ones from when they had some mini pokemon theme park open. I got sick of the mcdonalds ones fast as fuck though lmao
