Is it possible for Nintendo to turn off shinies on your Sun / Moon cartridge? Or is it just bugged and not possible to get a Shiny Trubbish via breeding in Sun / Moon?

(I've hatched over 10,000 Trubbish eggs and nothing.. with a shiny charm)

You should be SOS'ing, far quicker and easier. The egg seed got calculated when you started the game (it used either PID or TID, unsure which one exactly) and is essentially fixed (it's why 'Karp swap breeding was a thing). Since you're not using 'karp swapping to replace a shiny 'karp with the shiny you're looking for, you're just dragging out your time, you'd have a shiny Trubbish by now with a Harvest/Skill Swap/Trick Trevenant to set up an eternal caller (get to low health - probably take something that can False Swipe, would be best, skill swap Harvest to target, Trick Leppa berry onto target, target keeps producing berries to prevent itself running out of PP, keep KO'ing called pokémon till the called 'mon is shiny).
One more, afflicting paralysis on a 'mon will prevent it calling allies, so when the shiny pops up, you're best thunder waving it to stop it calling more.

OP, why would they disable shinies on a cart if they're willing to add a DLC minigame in Swoosh that (with Shiny Charm) gives you a 1/100 shiny chance per catch? If anything they want shinies to be more accessible in recent gens, GameFreak may be incompetent but they're not malicious
