How to tell if your Pokemon is viable, aka not a shitmon. Give it the Noctowl Test. Noctowl has 452 BST, and if your pokemon has above that number, it's not a shitmon, and you're a coward.

There are plenty of awesome Pokemon that fall under the Noctowl threshold that don't get used. Find a new main that isn't competitively viable at all. Fuck Smogon, fuck meta-faggots. Rot in hell.

This thread is for Shitmon Only. Stonk fags get OUUUUUUTTTTTTTT.

i was actually doing a challenge run of UM where i limited myself to pokemon with a bst of 450 or less to try and negate the problem of the game being too easy, it's an interesting experience but it doesn't make SM/USUM much more enjoyable

My IRL group of friends always uses this rule for serious battle teams:

Seems to work reasonably well.

Fuck viability, you are a tryhard if you autistically avoid strong pokemon instead of underleveling them. The OPTIMAL team uses your 6 favorites available, whatever you prefer, and ignores any stigma, because you define your preferences disregarding popular opinion. I used Garchomp and Carnivine together, and simply trained carnivine to be a couple of levels higher than the rest of the team, and garchomp a couple of levels lower. Being strong or weak doesnt matter when you so can so easily balance them out with the level system.
