Yes they fucking do. Drayden looks more like a gym leader than Roark, Brock or Bugsy EVER WILL.
But even then, Roark, Brock and Bugsy are gym leaders. They might look like generic, trainer class artwork but they're gym leaders. You know why? Because they're in the fucking game as them.
You can make the 'doesn't look like a pokemon' argument but all you need to be a gym leader in this franchise is to be autistic about one type and have a weird ass hairstyle.

I like the original Elesa way more than the BW2 design
Her BW2 design is so odd and weirdly shaped, it doesn’t fit her as a model and looks more like a costume. Even as edgy modern runway fashion it’s still a flop

Would actually be pretty cool, I think one of the reasons why Alola and Galar's characters have permanence is because they were able to make them expressive in full models.

Super deformed is cute, but it makes some characters read wrong outside their "billboard" in battles.

I can get behind the puffy jacket, but her swimsuit and flats (which should honestly be heels, those flats are giving me $35 macys shoes) could use some work. They feel a bit plain and aren’t as dynamic as her original, maybe if some black was added and it made her silhouette less frumpy
