I want a game that delivers on the inherent replay value in the core concept of the series, not bogged down by a bad story that forces itself upon you at every opportunity.

No old Pokemon, consists entirely of new Pokemon. Region is based off of areas in South Eastern USA. The gyms are all based on performances, like a magic show or a stage play. There's an amusement park town based on Disney World, there's other stuff to but I don't wanna go too in depth.

You start in the west of the region, where the cities are bigger and the distance between them is shorter, and you make your way east across PokeSiberia, each town getting smaller and the routes longer, eventually reaching the league in PokeKamchatka

As for the pokemon, probably a lot of ice types. I imagine there being numerous routes across PokeSiberia, the more northerly routes would have the majority of ice types. PokeSiberia would be a very wooded area, so grass types would make sense too, but really you could fit anything there.

Based on western Ecuador and the Galapagos Islands, because biodiversity and natural features. It would have jungle surrounding a big mountain, kind of like a tropical Sinnoh, and broad plains on one side. Galapagos Islands expy would have some living regional variants of fossil mons.

Reason I put it in Ecuador is because the country is one of the few on Earth that are considered a viable installation site for a space elevator, which is something that I'd like to feature. Nothing so gaudy and ultra future tech as Aether HQ, the whole region is kind of blue collar and lived in, but having that kind of facility in the background doing its own thing completely separate from you for most of the journey would be neat. Maybe emerging from the middle of the Quilotoa equivalent, pic related.

As far as old Pokemon, some grass types like Tropius would be cool, and regional conquistador long blade Pawniard/Bisharp with a four armed evolution, make em like Shellos/Gastrodon and make black ones to the north and white ones to the south so they're proper chess friends. Regional Trubbish/Garbodor based on mulch and compost rather than just garbage. New ones would include an arapaima, giant cellar spider/ogre faced spider mix, panther, pseudolegendary would be a pure steel type that gains poison typing - Some kind of cell sample that breaks out of containment at the end.

Pokemon League participation would be earned - IE, you have to win a local tournament to be able to challenge gyms which could be tackled in any order. Maybe types like...
>Dark
>Steel
>Fighting
>Bug
>Ghost
>Water
>Grass
>Normal/Mixed
But since you can tackle them in any order, maybe there's a couple optional ones and you only need 8 to qualify for the League championship. I imagine the semifinalists from the previous year would be called Elite Four, and after winning the finals you'd get to fight the Champion.

Whoop.
To match the dangers of the jungle, it'd be neat if trainers could be targeted by Pokemon in wild encounters or encounters with whatever evil trainers there are. Get hit too many times and you're out of luck. Maybe start battles with Wild Pokemon like a Safari Zone encounter... Throw bait or mud or your Pokemon.

There could be a big church, big open air market in one of the towns that could double as a gym, maybe give players a moped instead of a bike for long distance travel along the rural routes.

Could be cool random stuff to find in the jungle. Jungle routes themselves could be kind of roguelike, randomized each time you go through them out of a selection of maps. Maybe find a downed plane with a TM in it, or an old army camp that's been cleared out. Some scientists gassing the trees to make sleeping bug Pokemon fall out. Fishing in urban environments gives you a chance of reeling in an item instead of a Pokemon because rampant litter.

Space Elevator could be a really long winded side-quest that doesn't involve the main plot but gives you an opportunity for some challenging fights and lore bits. Maybe a mythical Pokemon.

Anyway, that's my TED talk. It would be neat.

No old pokemon, 171 different fakemon evolutionary lines (around 300-400 pokemon), where every possible type combination is used at least once. I've thought their conceptual designs in my free time during the last 2 years, started spriting them this year. My original region is Ogawa, based on my hometown and some of the surrounding area. The ideas need work but I've decided not to rush this.

I haven't thought of many, but a few are:
-a haunted hobby horse pokemon
-a bird that evolves into either a cardinal or a bluejay
-rain lilly mon that only appears after it stops raining on a route
-a trashcan that evolves into a dumpster with scary spider legs
-either a burger or pizza mon because I want at least one food rep
-dalmatian dogmon based on my childhood dog

A few mons like Abra, Eevee, Trapinch, Magnemite, Snorlax, Elgyem, Growlithe, Goldeen, Oddish, and Pawniard. Basically just a bunch of my favorites so probably too many to list. I'm still considering giving some regional forms.

Other gyms, in no real order yet (all based on places in my hometown):
-natatorium
-hall of wonders a la ripley's believe it or not
-zumba class
-an entire office building
-live music lounge
-repurposed mill + plant nursery
-restaurant with a ranch theme

A lot. In addition to collecting badges, there'd also be contest halls, an arcade, and some Battle Frontier-style facilities spread throughout the region that can all be accessed before you beat the Elite 4. For the latter, there'd be an extra level 30 tier so you can get started easier for copper prints. There would also be a lot of optional places to explore tucked into corners all around the region. Secret Bases are a thing in Ogawa and you'd have plenty of options to find a good spot for yours.
The game's rival starts off the adventure just wanting to explore the region, but as you progress, he decides that he can explore AND compete with you. Instead of giving you items or healing your mons, he usually gives hints on where/how to find the region's rarer mons instead.

The Spirol Region
A little backstory: the league of this region is overseen by the region's council of elders. Decades ago they decided that the Champion position would change every 10 years. To make the league more competitive, any trainer between the ages of 10 and 20 is allowed to claim the title in the 10th year if they are able to beat the champion. This doesn't really change anything, just gives some context for later story.
The player begins in a small town on the region's West coast. As a 10 year old they are allowed to become a trainer for the first time this year, as the league season has begun. The player travels north over route 1, a short paved road worn down on the edges, to get to the larger town where the professor lives and claim their starter pokemon, given a choice of:

The Grass type Pinekidna, the Needle Pokemon. Pinekidna is a small green echidna-like pokemon with needles covering its back and tail. Eventually Pinekidna evolves into Pinedicurus, a Grass/Steel type pokemon. Pinedicurus is a Doedicurus with metal armor and needles, hardened through evolution. It defends itself from predators with its tail club.

The Fire type pokemon Wispkit, the Ember pokemon. Wispkit is a small, dark red rabbit-like pokemon with thick fur covering its body. Wispkit eventually evolves into the Fire/Fairy Wispelope, the Guide pokemon. Wispelope's fur often gets caught in bushes as it runs around, burning long after Wispelope is gone. These glowing furballs are used by people as guides through the wilderness.

The Water/Poison type Dyartail, the Eggshell pokemon. Dyartail is a Platypus-like pokemon with green markings on its body and head. It wears its eggshell as a helmet and wraps itself in its tough tail for self-defense. Dyartail eventually evolves into Dyartribe, a skilled hunter. Dyartribe covers darts with its own poison to slow prey. Its bright markings are a warning to any challengers
