My gut feeling is despite the initial trailer and presentation feeling very BOTW I actually think the game will be closer to Pokemon Monster Hunter then BOTW

im scared of the implications of the narration in the trailer tbhdesu
it makes it sound like it really will be 1 little city and the rest is wild area. and i feel like i'm in the minority here when it comes to people who got the dlc, but i wasn't a big fan of a huge wild area with not really any npcs to talk to or things to do besides catch pokemon.
my expectation is that it will be like the dlc

I do remember the "game footage not final" as well
Turns out it was 99% done. Though, I'll give that this time around there's much more time between release and the first trailer we got.

Measured but optimistic. I like that Gamefreak is actually being ambitious for once, and this seems like a big passion project so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

I expect a lot of underdeveloped mechanics that won't be perfected until multiple games in the series or will be dropped entirely later. I also expect a lot of technical shortcomings. But on the opposite side I expect a fresh and enjoyable experience that serves as a nice starting point for a new direction to take the series or a spin off series in. I really hope the ride Pokemon and overworld movement and catching mechanics are well implemented at least.

I don’t really expect anything with what little we got, but do have some “hopes”.

1. “Ancient Forms” of Pokemon or extinct, “new” Pokemon.
2. ATB to be confirmed and incorporated instead of turn-based.
3. Better graphics and FPS in the next trailer (esp. draw distance and Pokemon animations)
4. True open world experience where you can traverse everywhere and in any direction you desire.
5. Actual difficulty, especially with boss battles.

It would be cool if this was the start of a split main series, like how Mario has the sidescrollers and the 3d games like Galaxy and Odyssy both releasing. We could have RPG pokemon and Adventure pokemon.

I'm very specifically talking about the lack of NPCs in the first trailer you retards. It showed one trainer but every city and route were as empty as this, and surprise, that's not how the game turned out. It will be the same situation this time.

An average experience with graphical problems that will feel fresh but leave me and many others wanting something more. Hopefully this isn't a one-off idea. Even if this game doesn't end up being some shining jewel in the franchise, the games in the years to come might be able to add onto and perfect the mechanics of it.
