Been looking at the sheets and noticed they’ve gone up in price over years, nothing to do with popularity more with scarcity and it’s nice to have a clean new set. If they get popular I’ll be even more happy I’m sure later.

It's hard to explain because I don't know the name of the material but a sticky substrate holds the glossy pokemon card against the sheet. They're real cards and not stickers but they peel off the packaging like stickers.

No they’re not stickers it’s a vending sheet which has the cards attached, you peel the cards off, they’re a really glossy smooth texture I’m not sure exactly what it’s made of but I had a few by chance and I loved the funky art so I got a whole set when I came into unexpected Pokémon cash

I believe series 3 is the cheapest of the 3 but I think it’s now comparable to series 2 and it’ll probably rise if people obsess over the Ooyama but pajeet is spamming that so I know it’s taboo, I love the artwork though I’m gonna grab a raw set of series 1 and 2 then grab a Ooyama Pikachu and all his extra cards as an additional collection

yeah it's pretty much this, a realy good set came out compounded with covid impacting card production and global supply chains, then logan paul put the hobby in the spotlight and started a cycle of youtubers buying up loads of cards to do basedface pack opening videos, which in turn made that kind of video the only one that people watch.

then after that all the opportunistic scalpers started poaching all the cards so now nobody can get anything.

The easy way to explain it is this. Sealed product can be turned into singles. But singles can never be turned into sealed product.
And singles prices have nothing to do with sealed prices most of the time thanks to arbitrage. Any time the EV on a pack is too high people will crack packs until the EV falls. But while the EV falls and the price of singles goes down the supply of sealed product has irreversibly gone up. Thats why the onlder a set is the less of a relationship there is between pack EV and sealed prices.

And at this point you buy raw and grade later so you won't be out money. Cards might crash soon especially modern but guess what. In ten years time all the tag teams and shinings and amazing rares will be sought after just like gold stars, crystals, neo shinings. And nowadays you see ex cards gaining traction where a whole PSA 10 set of ex is over six digits (granted there's a shit ton of ex cards). Dont stop collecting and let prices get you down.

no. do you have any fucking idea how much more supply there is of SM/SWSH sets than later neo sets and shining card sets? its not even fucking comparable. Pokemon probably printed 10 times as much modern as they did for those mid 2000's sets when the hobby was dying
