Dynamax is obviously a doubles based mechanic and yet only one major battle is a double battle. You also have access to Dynamax so it completely removes having to think outside of the box to beat the boss instead of clicking a supereffective move and winning.

Totem Battles were so much fun because they could be actually challenging. That one in USUM where the Lurantis called Comfey for floral healing and floral buffs while spamming solar blade was quite problematic in my nuzlocke run

Trials made Sun/Moon so refreshing and unique. I love how the Pokemon were the central focus instead of the trial captains (aka gym leaders). The battles were so much more memorable and slightly challenging too, especially against mons like Lurantis.

Haven’t had fun like that with gyms since Whitney in Pokemon Gold.

Trials were cool. What wasnt however was the gay ass safety gear you have to wear when using ride paige pokemon. I like that they got rid of hms. Its cool that you can summon and ride a pokemon to do the task. But that multicolored retard gear they made you put on was hideous. I dont get the point, like they wanted to make sure if kids decided to ride their fire breathing dragonlizards around they would wear helmets? Lol wtf

It added imbalanced bosses which is something the games struggled with forever. Max Raids are just another solution to the same problem, Pokemon has a very hard time making interesting and challenging encounters when the player has all the options the boss does and more.

SOS battles, hordes and some variation of the DexNav need to all be core pokemon features. Fuck GF for removing them. Also Double Battles should be more prevalent, it's obvious from Totem Battles that they're more interesting and challenging.

Hordes is a cool idea but I didn't like how it was executed. All the pokemon were super weak and it was more an annoyance than anything else. SOS has every benefit hordes might have and more.

This thing is great but should be available from the start. I feel it's very useful early on but becomes too easy fast. It should have a slower build-up and more to keep building while getting rewarded. It caps very early on.

Yeah true, it's just a shame they didn't bring it back for LGPE or SwSh since they could've expanded upon it, plus Mohn's just a solid all-round character I'd rather see him make returns in subsequent games than Champions.

Raid battles just don't do it. Dynamax and Gigantmax are too much of a gimmick. Totems just being bigger and tougher pokemon felt far more natural and enjoyable, even if it's just a case of them being bigger than normal.

Hordes were a logical extension of Pokemon's encounter system. It messed with the FPS, but the concept was fine. Also not uncommon in RPGs.

Running into one Pokemon at a time in something like the Wild Area honestly feels unnatural to me.
