Fire didn't need another buff. Grass was more deserving of one, and it resisting Fairy would have made more sense.

How would grass resisting fairy make sense? Fairies are very close to nature, grass resisting it would imply that the two are separate opposing forces such as thematically or how they would actually work.

I wasn't arguing for them to be weak to bugs (even though Miss Spider would easily kick Tinkerbell's sorry ass). My argument was that bugs have ways to fight back against fairies so at the very least their relationship should be neutral if not flat out reversed.
Even ignoring that, there's the obvious issue of balance >>46665775 had it right. The only reason fairy resists big is because incels would cry that their Mega Waifu wasn't stronger.
