interesting direction they're going in too, opens up a lot of possibilities, i know there will be things i want them to do that they don't, missed potential, but it's better than i was hoping for

Taking a closer look the flowers are incredibly blurry and the resolution of the hills are pitiful at that distance, however despite basically stealing breath of the wild’s overworld while managing to look worse than it, it is a feat for Pokémon to accomplish, and featuring Arceus no less, they’re really trying to shake things up a little and even if it’s a safe move in the vidya industry to make one of these like it is to make a battle royale mode for your game, it’s a big move in the franchise. Granted only 20% of the franchise’s money comes from games but I like the direction. 7/10 I’m hopeful

Miles better than SwSh, but it looks very empty. There are just some tree assets and not much more. The grass looks unnatural. Still needs work on textures, lighting, etc. too, but expecting much of that to be fixed by release.

I do love the cel-shaded artstyle.

For a switch game its a 7
For a modern game (gen 8/9 consoles and PC) its a 5
Its the best looking mainline game to date, but it looks worse than snap 2 and pokken

Ni no Kuni, BOTW, and Persona 5 all use cel-shading and all look incredible. It’s perfect for Pokemon, too.

BOTW's cell shading looks like garbage. All the environments and shit are realistic and then you have all these cartoon characters wandering around. At least Persona 5 can pull it off because its tapping into preestablished anime norms.

Graphics - Early PS2/10
Design - Like a solid 7-7.5, I like the character design and location design although it doesn't feel like it's been pushed far enough, so my score might go up as we see more locations.
