Just fill in the gaps, build upon the bond and land, and maybe even squeeze in the boss battles and areas of the story. If anything, I'm down to who to choose. And wanna do Cyndaquil with an Eevee partner for practical, cute, and moments of grounded reality.

Just dumb ideas to both be quirky and grounded. The MC is just reluctant and realistic, being actually a little quirky and not as direct in a fight. While the partner is generally upbeat, optimistic, coy/smug, and even a little clingy. Both pushing and pulling each other in little ways, and going for more thoughtful approaches to things.
Ehh, who knows? Need to play around with it more or just let someone steal the idea.
