maybe i'm wrong but that seems more like "hey look here we're gay" than trying to make a decent story that just happens to have gay characters
also the idea was that checking the tombstone would be optional, whereas the dialog box you're suggesting seem mandatory
i think i don't see it as making a big deal out of them being gay, because it'd rather be making a big deal out of the impact of his bf's death (which would still hold true if it were a straight couple), so them being gay isn't what's important, since it would be optional for you to even be aware they were gay
but, maybe i'm wrong, idk
also if he ded then he can't be sexualized, that way you never have to see any gay affection and the audience is spared from our disgusting gay ways
