Not him but he's not wrong. Gen 5 has some good mons (Chandelure, Haxorus, etc...) but the vast majority of the dex was utter shit because they tried to do "Kanto 2" and prioritized quantity over quality.

I don't disagree that the dex wasn't all that inspired. The game was good though

I did like Galvantula, Zorua (despite being a shillmon), Scolipede, Carracosta, Archen and Hydreigon.

To accomplish that they made a lot of the dex blatant gen 1 ripoff. They should have just done a dex of solely new designs, the best ones in gen 5 were the ones that didn't try to imitate gen one mons.

Gen 5 killed Pokemon after it reached its peak with Gen 4. Gen 5 was the beginning of nu-Pokemon. In regards to the games, the anime and even fucking PokeSpe, Gen 5 was the wrong turn right before the finish line.

On their own merits Incineroar stands out more because it fits an archetype that has otherwise not really be used by Smash despite being a staple of other fighting games (Cinderace instead is just Fox with the Soccer Ball item). In reality however we all know that if they were in the same generation the one who was the actual starter would have been chosen.
