>>46700502If Gold/Silver/Crystal are supposed to be sequels to Red/Green/Blue then why do Murkrow and Houndour exist in the Kanto region without any explanation as to how they got there?
Am I supposed to imagine that they were always there and simply weren't included in the original depictions of the Kanto Region because of hardware limitations or, alternatively, because they weren't conceptualized yet?
Because if so, that means I am at least partially aware of the development process, which breaks my immersion. You could argue that this is a minor detail, but it still something that breaks my immersion.
>>46702899It's subjective really. Someone could argue that because of the extra grinding they have to do, the trade-off wasn't worthwhile. A better way to solve this issue is to have Gym Leaders and potentially even NPC Trainers, like someone else suggested, scale with the number of badges you have or the level of your Pokemon, essentially making it impossible to be overleveled relative to anyone.
>>46703597You still have a number of tasks you need to do, the game just lets you choose the order in which you would like to do them. It's impossible to skip a segment altogether. So to what degree its non-linear is really up in the air. With that being said, I don't think Johto lets you skip a segment altogether either. So to someone who doesn't see what RGB/GSC does as all that nonlinear, the level curve becomes an even more glaring issue.
