Team preview fucking sucks. Half the strategy of a battle was keeping your cards close to your chest and doing your best to not reveal pokemon unless you had to. And likewise, trying to predict what other pokemon the opponent might have based on what you've seen so far, etc.
It's far too straightforward with team preview. Oh, he has these pokemon.He's using these guys in this manner. Boring.
