Dragons in general received a huge nerf when Fairies were introduced.
Now +1 Outrage can't just brute force its way through Steel resists.
Mence actually has really solid stats and an amazing ability in Moxie but the type that is literally immune to its strongest attacks is on a bunch of commonly used Pokemon like Clefable and the Tapus
Fairies were a mistake

It would be good IF it was on pokemon with actual good stats and moves. Salamence, krookodile, honchkrow, scrafty, gyarados, are all shitmons with terrible stats and lacking movepools. Notice how beast boost is good in pheromosa but it can't save stakataka or the mosquito.

Krookodile is terrible, its typing is weak to both water and fairy and its stats are horrible, only its attack is kind of not so bad, but even then it doesn't even hit the 140 mark, making it mediocre at best. 92 is laughably slow, nowadays you have to have either 130 speed or be either a tank or a trick room shitmon to compensate.

Holy shit you nu-gen zoomers just want everything to be mixmaxed broken shit like Greninja and Phero. Like I said Fairy is the only reason people don't use Salamence anymore. Dnite is still used because its calling card is a defense mechanism unaffected by Fairies (Multiscale) but all the offensive Dragon/Flying types are fucked because none of them get them Brave Bird so they can actually use their other STAB to hit fairies with. This is also why Garchomp is still used (it has Ground STAB Earthquake)

Mence sucks because its roles are limited, it has a great defensive ability in Intimidate but lacks the defensive stats to make good use of it, so it's stuck as a fast, frail attacker
moxie is unspectacular on it, there are tons of dd/moxie attackers and beast boost mons, intimidate is the better ability

what people fail to understand about what makes Lando good aren't the raw defenses, it's Lando's 145 Attack and 100 BP STAB move on a ridiculous offensive and defensive typing
Salamence doesn't have the same offensive presence. 135 Attack and 80 BP STAB move is significantly weaker and Flying doesn't threaten like Ground does.
Salamence needs HDB to switch in to SR while Lando doesn't, meaning Lando has more item flexibility.
Roost, Wish, and Dragon Dance are good tricks but don't make up for the spread/typing deficiencies, as a defensive intimidator even Gyarados is better
