>>46712828I wouldn't call the Ruins empty, they just don't amount to anything. Hell, I think part of the reason I expected to find something was precisely because the early Gens were good about rewarding the player *somehow* for going out of their way to explore. Optional dungeons were always full of valuable items (Max Revives, Nuggets, Rare Candies, etc.) and often a legendary or some kind of special Pokemon. The only exception was the Ruins, which very much seemed like the one that would surely have some insane prize or revelation at the end.
I do agree, though, that the trading card game had a lot of stuff that I wish GameFreak had incorporated into the games.
