For me, it was a shinx, male, caught north of jubilife city after 8-year old me lost to that lass with the budew. He was the first Pokémon I ever caught too, since I thought bidoof and starly were stupid at the time. I killed the first shinx I found on accident, then I found him and didn't know what a shiny was. He reached level 29, but then I boxed him before he could evolve since I had no clue that Pokémon needed to reach certain levels to evolve and I just thought mine was broken. After I discovered what genders were in Pokémon and noticed male trainers only had male pokemon, and since I was a male, that must mean I could only have male pokemon, he survived the purge of me releasing every female pokemon I had(including my piplup). I forgot about him though, and didn't transfer him to my white version. I reset the game for my sister to try, and right after I did, I realized my mistake. Each gen, I make sure to breed a male shiny shinx in memory of him.
