Admittedly, it could be pulled-off better, but it was made back when shiny colors were generated by the game, rather than Game Freak coming up with the shiny designs themselves
If I could change Poliwrath's design, I'd give it Politoed's shade of green + make the gloves and belly yellow

Problem isn't with the color alone, it's the specific shades of green they use. I guarantee you would see less complaints if more of them were a darker shade. Instead most of them look like piss and vomit.

Yea, the Mudkip line was robbed. I would've even taken a dull pink like shiny Wooper over this majenta. The hardest part, they never changed the orange parts, but I don't even know a colour that would go with the awful pink.

When shinies were introduced in gen 2, GF didn't manually design each shiny from scratch, they just shifted the base color of the poke to the next color available in the game boy color's color palette. Which is why so many gen 1 and 2 shiny designs are either barely different from the base, or green. There was literally no thought put into what color each poke's shiny should be until gen 3, and they just kept the same colors from the gen 2 games instead of revamping the first 251 with new, hand designed shinies. Because Gamefreak.

Sometimes I wonder: If Game Freak were to completely redo some of these shinies, would people be ok with that? Like if every Shiny Espeon from Gen 9 onwards looked like this instead of green
