Emerald has a much bigger emphasis on doubles, difficulty, has gym rematches and the Batt** **ontier.
Soaring and Dexnav are neat especially the latter but they don't really remedy how almost all of Emerald's additions were left out and how the remakes have less longevity, once the servers are down those games are fucked.

Same problem as Platinum above, too many interruptions, too linear, and gen 5 started the theme park region trend.

Sword and Shield with the DLC are very decent games and you probably don't like them because you haven't played them or because you're justifiably upset over Dexit.

Half of these points are personal grievances rather than objective flaws.
It’s annoying that you have to wait until the post game for cross-gen evolutions, trading and breeding, but it doesn’t ruin the entire game. FrLg aren’t the best games in the series by any stretch but they are probably the most accessible and replayable. They are certainly better remakes than OrAs - FrLg may not have added a lot of new content but at least it didn’t remove any old content.
Also fuck you the sevii islands are cool.
